Prof. Frank Georg Zebner
Frank Georg Zebner studied in Munich, Schwäbisch Gmünd and Offenbach and has worked as an industrial designer in Munich, London and San Francisco for frogdesign, IDEO and Siemens, among others. He has been a freelance designer in Munich for many years and advises international brands such as BMW, Gaggenau, Meiko and Siemens.
He has been a professor at HfG Offenbach since 2008, working in the field of teaching Technology-oriented Design. Prior to this he was professor of product and communication design at the University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd for 11 years. He is currently also teaching at various international colleges and universities in Europe, Asia and Australia. He is Honorary Professor at NTUT, the National Taipei University of Technology, and in 2014 he was appointed Visiting Honorary Professor at BIT, the Beijing Institute of Technology, and at Guangzhou University in China.
He has initiated other research projects, which are, among other things, investigated by DIO Design Institut in Offenbach, which he heads. He has been in charge of and the mentor of Designnetzwerk Hessen (IHK, Offenbach’s Chamber of Commerce) since 2014. He is a member of Verband Deutscher Industrie Designer (Association of German Industrial Designers, VDID), a founding member of Gesellschaft für Designgeschichte (Society of Design History, GfDg) and a member of Attac. Numerous awards for his achievements in the fields of design and research, works as a juror, publications on issues relating to design.
